Hearing Aids

We offer the latest hearing aid technology. As a truly independent clinic, our clients have access to the best hearing aids for their individual hearing loss and needs, from all the world’s leading manufacturers.

Choosing the best hearing aid for you

People often come to us and say they want ‘the best’ hearing aid. So, what is the best hearing aid? Unfortunately, there is no single ‘best’ hearing aid to suit everybody. The hearing aid that is best for you may not be best for the next person.

Things like your type and level of hearing loss, lifestyle, budget, cosmetic preferences and dexterity help to determine which hearing aid is best for you.

Hearing aids can sit fully ‘In-the-Ear’ or ‘Behind-the-Ear (with a piece that also sits in the ear).’ There is a big range in the cost of hearing aids which is determined mainly by the type of processing chip (or little computer) that is inside the hearing aid. More sophisticated processing chips have technology inside them to help more in noisy situations compared to basic processing chips.

Most current hearing aids (including ones with basic technology and aside from the tiniest ones), have Bluetooth technology inside them that allows them to connect wirelessly to things like your mobile phone and television.

Being a truly independent clinic means we are not tied to fitting hearing aids from one manufacturer and can choose the best hearing aid for each individual. We work with all the world’s leading manufacturers including Oticon, Signia and Phonak among others. Hearing aid technology changes rapidly. We place a high priority on keeping our Audiologists up to date with the latest technology in hearing aids to deliver the best possible hearing aid fittings.

All our recommendations are driven by achieving the best outcome for each client and our Audiologists do not receive any commissions for fitting hearing aids.

Hearing Aid Fittings

Fitting your hearing aids takes approximately 1 hours and involves:

Checking the physical fit of the aids in your ears.

Programming the aids using a special method called ‘Live Speech Mapping’ where speech is played through a speaker and the output of the hearing aids is matched to a target which is determined by the hearing levels measured at your hearing assessment.

Checking that loud sounds will not be uncomfortable for you when wearing your hearing aids.

Showing you how to put your aids in and how to look after them.

Discussing how to get used to all the sounds you will hear around you with your hearing aids.

Counselling you about the realistic benefits you can expect the hearing aids to provide and other strategies you can use to further assist communication.

Answering any other questions or concerns you have about your new hearing aids.
