What to Expect

Butterfly Audiology perform hearing assessments for adults and children aged four years and older. Our Audiologists ensure that every person feels relaxed and comfortable, allowing accurate results to be obtained. A referral is not needed.

What to Expect - Children

Adults can expect a full hearing assessment to be performed. This includes a test to assess any difficulties hearing in noise as well as in quiet surroundings. The Audiologist will explain the results, refer you to your doctor if this is indicated and talk about whether hearing aids could help you.

If you need hearing aids, the Audiologist will then go through the many options and decide with you which type suits you best. A hearing aid fitting appointment will be organised and you are on your way to better hearing. The initial appointment takes approximately 1 hour.

What to Expect - Children

Our Audiologists make every effort to ensure children enjoy the experience of having their hearing checked.

Below is a social script you can show your child if they are feeling a little anxious about what will happen when they attend the clinic.

We always explain hearing assessment results to parents/carers and in consultation with them. Report back to the doctor or any other health professionals (such as speech pathologists) if indicated. The appointment takes approximately 45 minutes.
